Within the past four years I have redefined myself as a still photographer, following a thirty-year career as a nationally recognized documentary and commercial DP. While building a broad range of expertise developed thru shooting in virtually every genre in film and video... I achieved a strong reputation for creatively lighting everything from single and matched two-camera interviews, venues large and small, both interior and exterior, small independent films, and studio lighting for commercial clients. What I found most challenging and gratifying was the sense of delicate lighting needed in shooting for documentary clients such as Frontline, 60 Minutes, Turning Point, 20/20 and National Geographic. This ability to light in a way that denies the presence of any artificial light has proven to be nicely adapted to shooting truly intimate portraits. The versatility, the collaborative sensibility and the creative depth on which I could draw in bringing a client's vision to life, and the ability to work quickly while producing exceptional footage... are what creates a strong and creative work ethic that proved so successful in my first career... are still being put to use in shooting fine art, portraiture, and event photography.
I had a tremendous body of experience shooting spot news, commercials, social documentaries, aerials, even... underwater. All in locations from the frozen Arctic ice to the Amazon jungle... from 46 U.S. states to Iran, Poland, Cuba, India and so many more. Things have not changed all that much in my current career... I'm just using a lighter camera. |

I accept still photography projects shooting production stills, portraiture, head-shots, and fine-art photography. I am a Photoshop CS3 Master integrating digital manipulation, image optimization, and layering effects and filters. All work is performed on Mac Pro Quad Core work-stations, all with 1TB of on working storage with 4TB on-site archival storage and 3TB of storage on our server . The Macs are loaded with the most recent imaging software including Aperture 2, PhotoshopCS3 with plugins by Alien Skin, OnOne, NIK, Kodak, and the new Tiffen Dfx 2... an amazing piece of software into which Tiffen has digitized over 200 of their optical filters which can be applied and adjusted in layers. I also have Lightzone, Illustrator, FCP loaded on the Macs. I am a professional who brings with him not only his lunch... but a strong sense of resolve and decisiveness... and a broad knowledge of the entire production process and all aspects of digital photography.
After a shoot I have the ability to upload "dailies" to my server for client viewing, allowing for an expeditious work-flow.
With a thirty-year background as a network cameraman, and a freelance documentary DP I have a fair amount of production experience. I offer consulting services on two levels... Production Consulting and Media Consulting. Please check my (ever evolving) website for further details.
