| FILM: |
i would like some experience. |
| MUSIC: |
i've always been more of a die hard music fan than an actual musician. i've always been friends with or dated musicians. i am drawn to them and everything about them. i can listen to musicians talk without going "what's an arpeggio? what's a third note? what's feedback?" ya know?
i have been fooling around with turntables as an instrument, and i think i like it but i need a lot more equipment thani have |
| THEATER: |
i directed plays in high school. i acted from age 10 to 18, but then stopped. i taught an improv class for a year when i was 15 to kids in my neighborhood.
i have never been in a musical or dance kind of theatre and that is not my specialty. |
| PROMOTION: |
i've made signs and put them up all around my town but never for anything too big |
| PRINT: |
i've been making zines for over ten years. I had a little training in high school working for the school magazine. as a freshman i had 3 poems published in the school magazine, which it is rare for a freshman to be published at all, so that was kinda cool. i worked on formatting the magazine as well. I left the school the next year even though i had a seat on the Literary Board which was an honor to me.
My other school didn't have a magazine or newspaper until the semester before i graduated and i was under too much pressure with graduating to join the newspaper. I made my own zines, which were basically like the Onion or The Daily Show but it was all lies about students and staff at my school. they were supposed to be obvious lies and rumors were not supposed to have been started and taken seriously so i learned a lesson from that.
after high school i made Chickens That Fly and Aardvarks Who Love Them, which was a kinda sucky personal zine/scrapbook of randomxness. Next I made Clean Zine, which was a zine about addiction. I was part of a mailing list/blog thing for fans of Ani DiFranco, and i put together a zine called Every Angle, using poems, stories, artwork, etc, that these ani fans all over the US sent me. It was not a zine about Ani, it was written in the voices of Ani fans all over the US and we put 3 issues together. i did all the actual cut and past, printing, photocopying, colating, etc. In recent years i made a zine called Artistic Transition, which is about my gender transition, as well as a collection of my works kind of zine called Wicked Cliche. I'm also an editor for the newsletter that the organization MPOWER puts out. |
