Bio

Gender: F
Your vocation(s) (hold Control key to select multiple): Film Director/Producer; Director of Photography; Sounds and Lights; Cameraperson; Musician; Editor (Film)
Bio: Music: I was classically trained in piano, musical theory, violin, viola, composition, jazz, and conducting at a young age, but none of that appealed to me. I consider the beginning of my musical journey in 1997, when I started writing my first song. Since then, I've picked up the guitar and have been performing around Boston, including City Hall, Brattle Street Theater, Milky Way, Middle East Restaurant, Somerville Theater, and every college in New England.

Film: I became interested in film when I was 15, when I joined a program at the Institute of Contemporary Art learning to make films over the course of 2 years. I was encouraged to express myself from behind the lens, especially by notable local filmmaker Robert Patton-Spruill and his parents Linda Patton and Jim Spruill. I shot "Past the Pride", "Caught Up", "Dare", "Jump2K", "Cream", and "Screw the Lipstick" before I went to film school. I don't think I would proudly show anyone any of these films now, but at the time they were major achievements for me - a high school student with devoted friends, $40, and a vision. During and after BU film school, I shot many more films and music videos, notably Absent Meaning, produced by Twenty American Dollars.

Acting: Haven't done much acting, but I got my training through The Theater Offensive's Out Youth Theater Troupe, where I learned how to command attention from an audience. Eventually I landed a role in a really awful play "Girl Meets Girl", but it was pretty fun. I don't consider myself an actor but can probably do a decent, if not minimally awful, job if necessary.

Musical Theater: While in the theater troupe, I met Abe Rybeck, Artistic Director of Theater Offensive who became my mentor and encouraged me to write my first musical "Surviving the Nian". Four years later, it was produced and got pretty great reviews across the board, with some exceptions. I won the coveted Jonathan Larson award, which is sitting in the kitchen next to the dirty dishes. I'm still not quite sure what to do with it, but think that I probably should write another musical.

Current Project (s) and What you're seeking (explain in more detail what "I'm Looking For"): Currently I want to do freelance editing. If anyone can pay me to do any of their editing, I will chomp at the bit. Right now I'm doing weddings, but that's pretty boring. I'm super skilled at Final Cut Pro.
Assoc (e.g. SAG): ASCAP

Available for Film Racing, 48 Hr Film Project, and similar live film-making races?: No, I'm boring :)
