OMNIBUS ...A New Vision in Horror!
Why is OMNIBUS different from 99% of all other Horror movies currently being produced?
OMNIBUS is an upcoming feature-length, independent Anthology Horror Film comprised of three terrifying stories of lust, cruelty, and revenge!
Gone are the days of the classic Universal Horror movies of the 1930’s and 40’s. The era of the Gothic Horror Revival of the 1960’s, from Hammer and A.I.P., with intelligent characters and well-structured scripts that appealed to young and old alike is now a distant memory, as well.
Most of today’s so called “horror movies” are made to appeal strictly to teenagers, rather than adults! They tend to have incredible SFX ….but remove these elaborate computer generated marvels and you are usually left with a very silly film, with a very thin plot. The other current trend are horror films that concentrate merely on cheap shock effects, eye-popping gore, and loads of T&A, at the expense of good stories and solid character development.
The director of OMNIBUS, Dima Ballin (that's me), and the executive producer, Gregory Petaludis, are no strangers to "good" Horror Movies. We have been Horror fans most of our lives. Our Vintage Horror movie memorabilia collection is one of the finest in the world. Many authors come to us to borrow images for their books and publications. It is now our goal to redefine the "horror film" by creating artistically truthful movies that transcend the genre!
A marriage of the Sensational and the Sublime!
Growing up on Hammer Horrors, Mario Bava, Roger Corman, and other exploitation films of the 60's and 70's, I found myself delighted by their fluent filmmaking, yet frustrated by their relatively superficial artistry. They were films very much of their genre. I loved their sensationalism, their melodrama, their Gothic atmosphere, but not their lack of depth. At the same time, I was watching and studying films by the great auteurs like Bergman, Dreyer, Cocteau, Fellini, Bunuel, Polanski, Kurosawa, Herzog, and others. If this sounds schizophrenic, I assure you there is a unifying force at work here ...and that unifying force is at the heart of OMNIBUS!
I've learned from the best, and now it is my turn to take what I've learned and create a tour de force horror film for the modern audience, melding nuanced artistry with the shocking sensationalism of Grand Guignol! I envision OMNIBUS as a deeply disturbing Horror Movie with a solid foundation in emotional and psychological truthfulness which will make its “horror” elements all the more horrifying!
The team that's producing OMNIBUS (a first rate team, in my opinion) is not making this film strictly for profit. Our goal is to inject new life into the horror genre, with many future productions. We are here to stay for the long haul!
