Ben Rotast has been interested in film making ever since his mother rented a VHS camera for a family vacation in the mid 80's (complete with backpack). Even at a tender age of 10, he created challenging and nuanced films such as "Hamsters for Dinner" and "Dog Taking a Shit".
In his early teens, with the help of a cutting edge VHS-C camera, he directed everything from comedy to action and stop-motion animation to pulpy slasher films. Some notable titles are "Trapezoid Theater", "Merrimack Martians", and "Ice Cube Melts in 10 Seconds".
After high school, Ben attended Keene State College and received a BA in Film Production. While attending he worked with film (8 and 16mm) and digital cameras, trained in both linear and non-linear editing, and worked as director, editor, and DP on several student projects. Ben also took classes in screen writing and to date has written and collaborated on several screenplays. His strengths are plot, structure and making revisions.
Ben has just recently re-entered the film arena having worked in sales for the last 3 years. His top priority is gaining meaningful experience and is willing to work on your project for next to nothing. He is interested in directing and producing, and has recent experience working as an AD.
