Steven Davis is the award winning co-producer, co-director, and co-cinematographer of Haunted Cape Cod. This short documentary, which explores two of Cape Cod’s oldest haunted landmarks, earned Best Researched recognition at both the South Shore Film Festival and the All Cape Film Festival.
Davis’ interest in film was sparked at the young age of fourteen. Inspired by behind-the- scenes featurettes of films such as The Others, Steven joined forces with Media Arts Director, Melissa Murphy, and founded the Television Production Club at Mashpee High School. In 2005, Steven was named Distinguished TV Production Student for his dedication to this program and its evolvement.
Aside from acting as the school’s primary videographer, sound/lighting technician, and technical director, Davis volunteered at his local cable access station producing the bi- weekly talk show, Mashpee Focus. During the summer months, Steven worked as a wedding videographer for one of New England’s most reputable visual artists, Richard Talmage.
By the time Davis graduated from Mashpee High School in 2005, he had completed twelve short films and received six festival awards. Admetus (Director of Photography), a drama that follows a young undercover cop trying to uncover the truth behind his parents’ murder, was awarded Best Drama at the South Shore Film Festival and the All Cape Film Festival. The Longest Winter (Director of Photography), which tells the story of three survivors of a nuclear war and their search for a new civilization, won Best Cinematography at the All Cape Film Festival. Harmony Beach (Producer/Director of Photography), a drama about a troubled teen who is trying to cope with the loss of his father, was voted Best Picture at the All Cape Film Festival.
With an impressive resume already under his belt, Davis headed to Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) in Waltham, Massachusetts. That year, Steven began working as an On-Set Production Assistant for XY TV’s The Roomies and continued working as a wedding videographer for Richard Talmage. In 2006, Davis was hired by Sony Pictures TV as a location videographer for the Greg Behrendt Show. A couple months later, he was offered a part-time position as a video editor at Wheels TV (www.WheelsTV.net).
In September 2006, Alive and Breathing (Writer, Producer, Director), was released in limited quantity DVDs. This project, which was part of an adaptation course offered by CDIA, allowed Steven to adapt the lyrics of Tool’s Parabola into his own visual interpretation. Director Victor Salva (Powder, Jeepers Creepers) describes Alive and Breathing as an "epic music video" with "one powerful story". The video, which is Davis’ proudest project to date, is now available for viewing in the film section. Steven established Creaking Door Entertainment in 2003 with the release of Haunted Cape Cod and is currently working on the production company’s next endeavor, a historical documentary of a 19th century insane-asylum. Dedicated to achieving thought-provoking entertainment, Steven Davis hopes to inspire others by embracing curiosity, possibility, and hope. |
