Perhaps we shouldn't take it that far... but what we're about to share with you has potentially the same impact.
For about a year and a half, a dedicated group of New England film-makers and programmers have worked hard to create a tool that we believe does for indie films what the Wikipedia did for encyclopedia articles - namely, democratize the creative world.
Let's try to put it a different way. Have you ever had problems:
For film-makers: Lining up all the people you need to pull off a movie? Coordinating the large teams to produce?
For writers, talent and crew: Getting to be part of exciting projects before they become "too" popular?
Today, you're one of the first to hear about a tool built created to solve those problems and help you focus all your creative energy where it matters. Beanywood has now partnered with the great company that developed it to share with you the first experience. It literally went online just a few hours ago!
If you want to go and see it for yourself right now go and create your account at: http://www.icrew.com
If you want to read some more before creating a free account, here are some of the benefits:
Use "wisdom of the crowds" to help in your project's needs - whether it's related to the story, talent, locations, props, promotion, legal, etc.
Share your on-going projects on Facebook, or any major social network to recruit/promote
Benefit from solid contributors that are remote
Focus the energy otherwise wasted on coordinating towards the the creative process
And talent and crew, build your portfolio of produced work by collaborating with others online.
More information to come about two of the very interesting kick-off projects starting today(!)... in the meanwhile you can check it out for yourself, and start getting help/joining projects at http://www.icrew.com
The world won't wait for you, you have to seize opportunities such as these.
We learn more about this ingenious idea, that behind the Independent TV Festival, to create a brand of Independent TV just as their exists a long-storied track record to Independent Film.
It is worth mentioning that one great website that is working towards that direction is Current.TV, the new Media website and distribution organization advised by Al Gore, which allows new producers to actually get their work on cable. They also had a panel of executives and producers at the festival.
They speak about the future of programming and development.
Brian's rather impressive production track-record includes Good Luck Chuck, Employee of the Month, Dane Cook's Vicious Circle and Tourgasm for HBO, and is now filming Bachelor No. 2 starring Dane Cook and Kate Hudson which they're going to be filming in Massachusetts over the next two months.

The New England Film Movement (Beanywood) teams up again with Midnight Chimes Productions , IMAGINE Magazine , and Image Icon Entertainment to bring you the 4th Annual Boston Film Night. The event includes two screenings of local works and a networking party where you can meet others from your industry. ALSO: To help local talent get maximum exposure, Boston Film Night is offering four additional ways for filmmakers and actors to have their work included. We recommend that you do all four.
Bring your 3-minute reel on DVD and enter our drawing. If your DVD is randomly selected, it will screen during the show’s programming. Four slots are available (one actor/one filmmaker per show).
If you’re not randomly selected, you can take advantage of our media center to show your 3-minute reel on DVD at the networking event and after party.
Submit your 3-minute filmmaker/actor reel in advance to have it included during the networking event. To qualify, you would need to download a submission form and follow the specific guidelines. Reels will be programmed on a first-come/first-serve basis as space permits.
Bring your headshots, business cards, and other promotional material to display in our networking center.
Act now to ensure that your work is included in one of the largest events on the Boston filmmaking calendar. Information on reserving tickets and tables will be available on August 1st. This year will be the largest ever. Save the date.
