Student Testimonials

Director Bobby Logan, joins us this year for the 4th annual Boston Film Night on Saturday, September 22nd 2007. You will have the opportunity to attend Bobby's incredibly popular 1-Day $99 Film School during the day, and later join us for an incredible evening of film, food, and fun at the Boston Film Night. If you aren't able to jet-set to LA for his 1-Day $99 Film School, you now have the opportunity to do so right here in the Providence & Boston area.

This year's Boston Film Night will have a huge party, two sets of films screening, and plenty of networking. It's sponsored this year by Imagine Magazine, Beanywood.com, Image Icon Entertainment, Ourstage.com and the Ruff Cutz Indie Film Conference. For more information about submitting and attending you can visit http://www.bostonfilmnight.com.

What will I learn at the 1-Day $99Film School?

Part 1 - "Creative Elements"

  • Coming up with a clever, commercial idea
  • The script - length, 3-act structure, etc.
  • What does the audience want? And how to give it to them
  • What do distributors want? What elements are important?

Part 2 - "Technical Requirements"

  • Crew positions
  • Hiring the right crew - and at the right price
  • Getting your film equipment - for little or no money
  • How you don't have to know a thing about technology
Part 3 - "Business"
  • Shopping your completed film
  • Dealing with Distributors
  • The politics of Film Festivals
  • The business of casting - you need names to sell the film
  • Producing a high-quality film on a shoestring budget

Oh, geez, I just signed up for this before realizing it was Yom Kippur, the HOLIEST day in the Jewish Calendar. Think Christmas times three.

Not a single Jew up there in Beanywood? Yeah, I know, we're all too busy being doctors, lawyers and bankers - we never go into things like showbiz.... :-)

I don't suppose there's any chance the date can be changed at this point. I'd really love to go to this, but can I at least get my money back?

Hey Sharon... we had the processing company refund it. Too bad you won't be able to enjoy this unique opportunity. Unfortunately the date cannot be changed as it involves much planning for travel and logistics.

Thanks very much for taking care of this Safa, I did get the refund. I understand that it couldn't be changed but am hugely disappointed that I'll miss it and Boston Film Night. Maybe next in year in Arlington . . .
