It is sitting by my feet in a big, blue, hard shelled case. Courtesy of the good folks at Great Northern Video in New Hampshire, this is the most expensive thing I have ever purchased. The video camera I owned before this? A Panasonic one chip camcorder with a sticky zoom lens becausea friend spilled soda on it a few years ago. Actually, I have no idea where that thing is anymore.
The panasonic HVX200 is symbolic of how close we are to shooting. The last time I wrote a production blow, we were seven weeks from production. Now we're a month. Only a month. We have one month to finish raising the money, get the equipment, rehearse the actors, dress the locations, organize the crew, etc. This is it, this is crunch time. There's no turning back now, but why would I anyway? I've spent too long working on this project to turn around and walk away with my tail between my legs.
So where are we at now? Our locations are locked, we're shooting pretty much entirely in Quincy. The apartment we're renting for our main location is stunning and perfect, I'm not going to go into too much detail, but we really could not have found a more perfect place.
We also landed fiscal sponsorship. This is huge because we need a few people to make some donations to the project, and now donations are tax deductible. We've got a little bit more to raise, so if any of you know people who like to put money towards the arts, we are fiscally sponsored!
What else? Rehearsals begin Sunday, art department is gathering props, fundraising is still in full swing, scheduling is almost set, shotlist is almost set...
...I'm sorry, I keep getting distracted by the camera. What was I talking about again?
