The time is upon us! The winner of the Millies Movie Murals contest will be announced at a free Meet-The-Filmmakers & Artists reception on October 5th, from 5:30-8pm at Gallery 181, 181 Canal Street, Lawrence MA! The competitors came from around the country and the finalists are currently on exhibit at Gallery 181 (through October 11th). The winner will create murals to be seen on the big screen in the upcoming 2008 feature film "Millies," directed by Lawrence's resident filmmaker, Lorre Fritchy. In the film, a troubled group
of mill workers returns from 1912 to convince a bankrupt mill owner that her future is the key to their past. The mural paintings are significant in the subplot between the mill owner and a Latino youth.
The gala, which is open to the public, will include refreshments and silent auctions for varied items ranging from gift cards and baskets to stained glass artwork and walk-on roles in the film. All proceeds go towards the film's financing, and silent auction donations are still being gratefully accepted.
See you at the gala!
