We'll pause from the usual stream of posting items, and give people a moment to take it all in. Here are some tips.
To explore them all, you can keep this window open, and then right-click and open each of the links below in a new window. Here are the most basic of the basics:
- To begin with, as you know, in film we're always looking for other people. So start by exploring the professional interest lists (Actors, Film-makers, etc.) on the top left of the front page. Note: Only people with a portrait image appear there. Also people who have visited most frequenly appear closest to the top. It just shows different levels of investment. To update your own portrait image, click here.
- Update Your Portfolio with up-to-date info, headshots, video, scripts, and music clips. Why? We have a growing number of investors, casting directors, film-makers and distributors (yes), who are now regularly visiting the site. We can't give out their direct info, but they will contact people who sound interesting. Here's some details on how to make sure your portfolio is looking crisp.
- If you have some more time, get a bit more comfortable with the People power search tool. Understand that these functions cost studios thousands of dollars per search, and in their case only work for actors or crew or some small category. Just click on the People button on top of most pages. Here's some more info on how to use it.
Then if you really want to take it far and have fun, there are several other things you should explore:
- Join the lively and fun groups.
- Come and have a good time at the networking parties. A list of everyone who's coming along with links to their portfolios will be made available before the event and after.
- Join the collaborative film-making projects (right now a Short Film and a TV project ... more to come). Select that you want to be part of the Film Races.
- Write and check out the blogs.
- If you're a film-maker, for inspiration and pre-planning, check out the growing list of virtual reality locations.
- Come regularly to the site to:
- Read on exclusive content on film-making in the digital era.
- We'll also have some exclusive backstage content on the major studio films and interviews that is coming soon.
- Post and read casting calls. Become involved in the forums.
- Get special deals on conferences and experiences.
You can also read up on the help menu item if you have any questions, and please contact us.
