Listing Rules
The Film-makers and Performer's Online Guide is a free service provided for the film- and media-making and performance, and enthusiast communities. Any person or company that has a registered account (free to create here) is welcome to submit their listing in the Directory, and highly encouraged to do so. There are some basic rules that all listings must comply with to qualify for inclusion in the directory to maintain a very high quality experience:
- The audience of this guide are media makers and performers, as well as in part the film and video enthusiast community. If you belong to one of these categories, your favorite bookmarks are likely to be of great use to others, and we'd appreciate your sharing them.
- For the description, please use objective (avoid superlative adjectives), and normal capitalization in the description. The statement, "OMG!! OMG!!" for instance fails in both regards.
- At present, resources associated with listings cannot contain content of an adult or sexually explicit nature and cannot be promoting or engaging in illegal activities.
- Links must be to the site that is most relevant, links must not result in redirection to an alternative URL.
- Sites may not imply in any way that inclusion in the Directory constitutes endorsement by the Film-makers and Performer's Online Guide.
- All content including reviews and listing descriptions must be in English.
- The Directory team can unpublish any listing if a situation warrants it.
- If you obtain the description from another source, which is acceptable, please ensure that the Source field is properly filled out with either a website link or the author name. Examples source for the description may be, "From the web site," or "example.com/directory/". If it's left blank, it is assumed that the description was written by the author of the listing.
Listings that do not meet one or more of the criteria listed above will not be considered for inclusion in the Directory. In such cases the person who submitted the listing will be informed of the reason for the listing failure to be accepted.
Any listings that is found to be in conflict with the rules will:
- Be deactivated (unpublished).
- Author of the listing will be informed of the reason and allowed 14 days to either rectify the problem or request removal from the directory.
- If no reply is received in 14 days, the listing will remain deactivated or be permanently removed from the Directory.
Reviews and Comments
A review is a meaningful examination of a person's experience with a listing which is presented on the Directory. Praise, difficulties, or comparisons with other listings are all valid parts of a review, including the reasons why.
Self promotion, by creating unnecesseary links to personal/business sites, shouldn't be part of a review for a listing.
A listing is not a location for requests for support. Support question should be taken to the the appropriate resources' contact form or forum. Please stay courteous and don’t use any offensive language in your review. After finishing, a review will be accepted by the Directory team if it abides by the guidelines.
If you feel that a review contains incorrect information, please contact one of the moderators at Beanywood. The Directory members will not moderate reviews, unless this is done in agreement with the reviewer. If a review poses a problem in some way, the review will be pulled offline. A short investigation will follow, both parties will be contacted by a member of the team. After investigating, it is both possible that the review is being kept offline, or that the review is put online again.
In no circumstances will personal information from the Directory members be shared with 3rd parties, unless this is the direct wish of said member.
Voting and Rankings
- A user account can only vote once per listing.
- It is not allowed for a any person to solely rate a listing to artificially inflate the rating or vote count.
- It is not allowed for the same person to have more than one registered account in the Directory, particularly if it's for the sake of voting or increasing the visits to a particular listing.
- It is not allowed for a listing owner to give negative votes to other listings who are in competition for rating ranks, or to submit votes to listings that offer similar functionality or benefits.
- If any of the above three rules are broken by someone who is beneficiary of a listing in this Directory, all related listings will be unpublished from the Directory for a time set by the Directory Editors (starting from one month to inifinity).
Any queries about these rules should be made directly to the Beanywood team.
